The Importance of Community Resources
Community resources are vital to a thriving society. They provide essential support for individuals, families, and organizations, helping people lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. Many times, individuals and organizations are not even aware of what is available to them right in their own back yard. The Family First Initiative works to connect individuals and families with existing resources (local, state, and federal), provide financial support, and assist through TPP FFI events and programs.
Existing Resources
Financial Support
The Pediatric Place Family First Initiative provides financial support to individuals, families, and organizations to help bridge gaps in access to essential services and resources. By offering assistance for therapy services, basic needs, and community-based programs, the initiative works to reduce financial barriers and ensure families receive the care and support they need. This support also extends to partnering organizations, helping strengthen community efforts and expand access to meaningful, family-centered services.
In order to be considered for financial support, a financial hardship application must be completed for individuals/families and returned to Melissa Smith, the director of TPP FFI. The director submits the application to the TPP FFI board for review. The board considers the request and will grant or deny based on need.

loads of kindness
Loads of Kindness is a community outreach focused on meeting a basic but essential need—clean laundry. These pop-up events provide individuals and families the opportunity to wash and dry their clothes at no cost, helping to ease financial stress while promoting dignity and well-being.
More than just free laundry, Loads of Kindness creates a welcoming space where community members can connect with local organizations, access helpful resources, and receive support services while they wait. It’s an opportunity to build relationships, offer encouragement, and connect people to programs that can make a lasting impact.
Through the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners, Loads of Kindness helps lighten the load—both financially and emotionally—for those who need it most.
breeze of kindness
The Breeze of Kindness Program provides assistance to individuals and families who may be in need of a fan, window A/C unit, or air conditioning repairs during the hot summer months. New fans and/or window units can be donated at any time during the year, as well as monetary donations to help offset the costs of repairs.
community relief gift card assistance
The gift card program provides short-term emergency support to households experiencing financial hardship. Assistance is provided in the form of grocery and fuel gift cards to help families meet immediate needs.
birth certificate/ identification program
The Birth Certificate / ID Assistance Program is designed to remove barriers for individuals who are unable to access or afford their vital records. Referring agencies working with individuals in need may submit referrals to The Pediatric Place Family First Initiative, who will then coordinate and submit payment directly to the issuing authority for birth certificates.
