We recently received a referral from Compass Health Network about a father who was overwhelmed and struggling to find the right support for his family. He originally came in looking for a floor bed solution because his child was sleeping under the bed, which raised safety concerns. His greatest worry was keeping his children safe while helping them thrive, but he wasn’t sure where to start or what options might work.
When he came in and met with Melissa, the director of TPP FFI, it was clear he needed more than just a checklist of services, he needed someone to listen. “As we talked, we explored ideas together. We discussed the possibility of a tent bed to help his child feel secure while staying safely in bed, and also talked about a weighted blanket to provide comfort and reduce anxiety,” said Melissa.
Through this genuine connection, they uncovered practical solutions beyond the original request. For example, one simple but effective idea was using a restraint for his child’s sippy cup in the car. This allowed his child to have a drink within reach but prevented the cup from being thrown at the driver, making the ride safer and less stressful for everyone.
What began as a short consultation turned into a moment of transformation. He left feeling not only more hopeful but also equipped, with new tools, a clear direction, and the confidence that he wasn’t alone.
This story reminds us that impactful change starts with truly listening. It’s not about checking a box, it’s about walking alongside people, uncovering solutions together, and building trust that leads to lasting support.
