Sloan, SLP-A

I am an SLP-A from Kansas City, Missouri. I graduated from Calvary University with a Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy in 2009 and have taught private singing lessons to a variety of ages from elementary school children to adults for 14 years. My passion for the field of Speech Language Pathology was ignited by my own experience with vocal dysfunction due to acid reflux, when seeing an SLP helped me find my voice again. Those sessions left a lasting impression on me, and later encouraged me to help others find their voices. I graduated with the 2022-2023 cohort of Rockhurst University’s Speech Language Pathology Assistant certificate program. Since then, I have worked for two years as an SLP-A in the Saint Joseph School District. During that time, I have worked with students in pre-k through sixth grade in four schools throughout the district, providing treatment under the supervision of an SLP for students with a variety of diagnoses, including developmental speech and language impairments, hard of hearing, ADHD, selective mutism, and Autism. I am excited to join The Pediatric Place team and grow my own knowledge and clinical skills while helping kids and their families.

In my spare time, I still enjoy singing and teaching singing lessons. I also love reading, arts and crafts, and spending time with friends and family, including my two cats Fiona and Bonnie.
