Alternative Placement Site
The Pediatric Place, LLC is proud to announce that we are an approved Private Agency with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) as described in the Missouri State Plan for Special Education, Regulation XIV. This means that we are committed to providing the highest quality services for children aged 3-9 years old who have an IEP team in their local school district and whose educational needs cannot be adequately met in a less restrictive educational placement in their local school district.
At The Pediatric Place, LLC, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and we are committed to helping them achieve their goals.
WHAT ARE WE AND WHAT DO WE DO?
Through our Alternative Placement Site, located in Clinton, MO, students receive a behavior-focused school environment. Our school focuses on students with behavioral or emotional challenges, providing tailored interventions and support. They work daily with a comprehensive team of specialists in order to meet the student’s IEP needs.
Each child’s team consists of a certified special education teacher, board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA), and one-on-one registered behavior technician (RBT) to provide the highest quality services for students whose educational needs cannot be adequately met in a less restrictive educational placement in their local school district. The team helps students develop coping skills, emotional regulation, and positive behavior strategies needed to succeed alongside their peers.
Our collaborative approach carries through our Alternative Placement Site with additional physical, occupational, speech & language, feeding, and mental health services available.
WHEN MIGHT THE ALTERNATIVE PLACEMENT SITE WORK FOR MY STUDENTS?
We accept children aged 3 to 9 years, 11 months, with diagnoses such as ASD, ODD, ADHD, OHI, or other learning disabilities, who exhibit behaviors that impede their own learning or that of others. If a child turns 10 while enrolled and is making progress, they may continue in our program until they are ready to transition back to their home district.

THE IMPORTANCE OF INVESTING IN EARLY ELEMENTARY STUDENTS
At The Pediatric Place we aim to transform how school districts approach student behavior. Instead of merely managing early elementary behaviors, we encourage districts to identify and address patterns that may escalate into significant concerns as children develop. By intervening early and teaching students effective communication and self-regulation skills, we can reduce the likelihood that these behaviors will intensify to the point of posing risks to the child or others.
WHAT DOES A TRANSITION PLAN LOOK LIKE?
Transition plans are individualized for each student based on their specific needs. We begin with partial days in the home district, with our RBT and BCBA present to provide interventions and model strategies for district staff. As the student progresses, we gradually increase their time in the home district, first fading out the BCBA’s involvement and then the RBT’s, eventually transferring services to the district. During this process, we train school staff on behavior intervention, not only benefiting the current student but also strengthening the district’s ability to support future students who may require behavioral assistance.
